U of L breaks ground on new welcome center

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new welcome center is coming to the University of Louisville.

U of L officials broke ground on the $2 million facility Thursday. The Herman and Heddy Kurz Welcome Center will honor a Louisville couple who have supported the university for over six decades. It will sit on the east side of campus near Eastern Parkway and I-65 and will be one of the first buildings new students see when they set foot on campus.

"We will use the Kurz Welcome Center to recruit outstanding students and their supportive families who's first impressions will be much better than mine were in June of 1978," said Dr. Dale Billingsley, Interim Executive Vice President and University Provost

The new facility is expected to open next fall.
