Man who shot former President Ronald Reagan to be released from mental hospital

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDRB) -- The man who shot former U.S. President Ronald Reagan 35 years ago is set to leave a Washington D.C. mental hospital on Saturday.

In late July, a federal judge ruled 61-year-old John Hinckley was not a danger to himself or the public.

Hinckley will return to his home in Williamsburg, Virginia.

He will still have a number of restrictions to live by, even though he is now a free man.
