Excitement builds as Louisville football hosts College GameDay for first time

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville football team has started the season hot, dominating Charlotte and Syracuse and creating a season's worth of big play highlights in just two weeks.
That excitement has attracted ESPN, and the network's College GameDay show is coming to town Saturday for the Cardinals' top ten matchup with Florida State, a first for the Louisville football program.
GameDay is the sports network's signature college football pre-game show. On Monday, producers hit the U of L campus to gather athlete interviews.
I can't even describe it," Todd Owen said. "It's going to be so much fun."
Late Monday school officials told WDRB the stage will be set facing the Trager Fieldhouse off Floyd Street with the back filled in by fans on the grassy area adjacent to the Schnellenberger training building.
Shae Beckwith, Executive Vice President of MPC Promotions, hopes to fill that crowd with a sea of red. ESPN tapped the company to make official GameDay shirts.
"The ones we picked -- 'We're coming to your city' -- which is, you know, the big to do" Beckwith said. "It's very recognizable."
"We're coming to your city," is the name of the television show's theme song. The second design says, "GET UP CARDS IT'S GAMEDAY."
It's all a bit surreal to Gary Barnes, who works for MPC and played under Lee Corso at U of L in the early 70s. The legendary coach now hosts GameDay, however, the Cardinals are facing Corso's alma mater in Florida State.
Did the alumnus get a hint on any predictions?
"I asked him what he might wear, and he said 'no comment,'" Barnes said.
We'll see come Saturday.
