LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified a woman who was gunned down Monday evening in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood near NuLu.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, that woman has been identified as 19-year-old Mariah N. Wilson.
Wilson's body was found outside the Liberty Green apartment complex just before 6 p.m. in the 300 block of Clay Street near Ballard Street. Her cause of death has been identified as a single gunshot wound, and police have ruled the case to be a homicide.
Neighbors were shocked that the shooting happened in broad daylight.
Shekinah Armstrong knew something was happening in the apartment directly above her, but didn't find out exactly what was going on until she made the horrifying discovery-- Wilson's body lying in the parking lot.
"It was like: one-two pause ... and then bop-bop-bop! And then it was quiet," Armstrong said. "And I hear somebody just yelling, yelling, so I finally open the door. I guess people started noticing the body, and they are just hysterically yelling and I mean she is right outside my window."
This marks Louisville's 82nd homicide this year. So far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD. Callers can remain anonymous.
