LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The internet is helping an elderly man retire from his job as a popsicle vendor.

Eighty-nine-year-old Fidencio Sanchez has been pushing his popsicle cart around Chicago's "Little Village" for 23 years. His daughter, who helped support him and his wife, died in June.

A passer-by snapped a picture of Sanchez and started a GoFundMe page.

"Everybody in Little Village has a lot of respect for him, because he's a hard worker," said Gustavo Pedraza. "Now that everything became so big and everybody's actually giving the respect, it's just amazing."

The GoFundMe page raised nearly $250,000 in just a few days.
