Shelby County vote passes allowing packaged alcohol sales

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A wet/dry vote has reportedly passed in Shelby County.

According to Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who tweeted the results, 2,269 people voted in favor and 802 people voted against making the county wet.

The city of Shelbyville was already wet. But the rest of Shelby County, including Simpsonville, was what's called "moist." Alcohol sales were just allowed by the glass in most restaurants.

Tuesday's vote will now allow packaged alcohol sales in stores.
