Proposed drive-in has Oldham County neighbors wanting to stop the show

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A developer wants to build a drive-in movie theater in Oldham County, but some in the area are not happy about the proposed location.
Community members packed the South Oldham Fire Station for an informational meeting. Developer Stephen Sauerbeck is proposing a two-screen, 800-car facility off of Old La Grange Road.
“It’s perfect for the location. It’s centrally located in Oldham County. Easy access to the interstate and the majority of the population and it fits very well for our usage,” Sauerbeck said.
Neighbors are concerned about the narrow road, a railroad crossing, and the traffic.
"We don't want to live next door to a drive-in. We have the stars at night. It's beautiful. We have wildlife like you would not believe," said Barbara Taylor, whose property borders the proposed site.
Some community members at the meeting were also concerned about the potential environmental impact and noise a drive-in theater could create.
The project is still in the planning stages and has not received approval from the county. The property would also need to be rezoned.
