LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville will use its national spotlight this weekend to honor the city's most-famous son.

Muhammad Ali will be remembered Saturday when the Cardinals play No. 2 Florida State at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Ali died on June 3 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's Disease.

“The Ali Family has been tremendous supporters of our program,” said Tom Jurich, Vice-President and Director of Athletics at U of L. “Muhammad Ali’s presence and generosity to our department will never be forgotten, and the support Lonnie and her family have given in all aspects have meant a lot to me during the course of my career at the University of Louisville. They are treasured in our community and we wanted to properly thank them for everything they’ve meant to the city and the university.”

A 30-foot painting of a white butterfly, pictured in this story, will sit in the grass above the north endzone with the words "Ali" written in it. The U of L players will also wear a special helmet sticker with that same mark.

Ali's son, Asaad, will present each team with a commemorative coin with the team logos on one side and the butterfly on the other during the pregame coin toss.

The Louisville student section will also be part of the remembrance, as 3,000 special Ali T-shirts will be handed out to students in attendance.

Also, Ali's daughter, Lonnie, will be honored on the field during the first quarter.

The Cardinals and Seminoles kick off at Noon on Saturday.
