LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Louisville Metro Police detectives are under investigation by the FBI.
Kyle Willet and Thomas Barth are on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
Chief Steve Conrad started a Professional Standards investigation after receiving information that members of LMPD may have violated federal law. Police referred it to the FBI for follow-up.
Attorney Brian Butler, who represents Willett, says Willet is part of the narcotics airport interdiction team. Butler says there is an investigation, but that Willet was not arrested.
LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell released the following statement Friday afternoon:
We received information that members of LMPD may have violated federal law and, thus, referred it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for follow up. Chief Conrad initiated a Professional Standards Investigation and has placed Detectives Kyle Willet and Thomas Barth on administrative reassignment. Because this is a Professional Standards Investigation, in accordance with KRS 67C.326 we are prohibited from speaking further on this particular case at this time.
The FBI is also not commenting on the case.
