Coroner releases name of man killed during attempted burglary near Iroquois Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have released the name of a man who was shot and killed last week during an attempted burglary near Iroquois Park.

The victim was 38-year-old Anthony Akridge, according to Deputy Coroner Bob Jones. The official cause of death was a gunshot wound.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday on Esplanade Avenue.

Police say a homeowner shot and killed Akridge in what officials are calling an attempted burglary.

No word as to whether the homeowner will be charged with a crime.
