WDRB High School Football Top 10 topped by Trinity and Male

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Trinity Shamrocks held firm as the unanimous top team in the WDRB High School Football Top 10 poll, and coach Bob Beatty’s team also landed in two national rankings at MaxPreps.com

After improving to 5-0 with a victory over Pleasure Ridge Park last week, Trinity sits 24th nationally in the MaxPreps.com Xcellent 25 and No. 28 in the CBS MaxPreps Top 150 computer rankings. Trinity has also beaten two top-five teams — Male and PRP — in the WDRB poll.

Belfry (78), Simon Kenton (88) and Bowling Green (117) were the only Kentucky teams to make the Top 150. The highest ranked team in Indiana remains Warren Central, which is 17th with a 4-1 record.

Here is the WDRB Top 25 for the Kentuckiana Area.

1. Trinity (5-0, seven first-place votes, 70 points) — The Shamrocks figure to remain unbeaten against Jeffersontown.

2.  Male (4-1, 63 points) — Beaten only by Trinity, the Bulldogs visit Butler on Friday.

3.  St. Xavier (3-1, 53 points) — The Tigers’ final warm-up before their showdown with Trinity is a challenging home game with Pleasure Ridge Park.

4. Manual (4-0, 50 points) — The Crimson, who have two shutouts, could deliver a third at Western.

5. Pleasure Ridge Park (4-1, 40 points) — Beaten only by Trinity, the Panthers will try to bounce back against St. X.

6. Christian Academy (4-1, 36 points) — Winners of four straight after losing the opener to Simon Kenton, CAL plays host to Meade County Friday.

7. DeSales (4-1, 22 points) — After defeating Fern Creek, the Colts have a week off to prepare for North Hardin.

8. Brownstown (Ind.) Central (5-0, 21 points) — The Braves will try to continue their streak of scoring at least 35 points in a rivalry game against Seymour.

9. North Hardin (4-1, 10 points) — The Trojans will try to bounce back from a loss to South Warren against Monroe County.

10. Ballard (3-2, 8 points) — The Bruins failed to score against Manual and visit rival Eastern Friday.
