SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – You know it’s a serious showdown when a head coach is eliminating one of the ways players can freely “discuss” an upcoming game.
“We’ve got a Twitter ban where our kids aren’t on Twitter right now,” said North Bullitt Head Coach Adam Billings. “You know as soon as the season is over with, win or lose, it’s all going to come out then.”
Billings says the Friday showdown between his Eagles and the visiting Bullitt Central Cougars is for yearlong bragging rights. He knows it’s also much more than that. Both teams are coming into their district opener with 4-1 records.
“It’s us trying to not beat us and understanding these kids are super excited about the opportunity,” said Bullitt Central Cougars head coach Matt Kuehn. “There’s no speech I have to give them to be ready for Friday.”
Bullitt Central beat its intracounty rivals in three straight regular season meetings from 2012 to 2014 before dropping a 47-44 shootout on the Cougars home field last season.
Friday night at North Bullitt, the Eagles will try to notch back-to-back regular season victories over the Cougars for the first time since 2010-2011.
WDRB’s First Down Friday will be in Shepherdsville for the showdown.
