LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials give the all-clear at Eastern Kentucky University after reports of gunfire near the school’s Richmond campus.

A campus alert was issued around 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

The alert told students to take shelter, secure doors, and take cover.

Police say a fight was reported on Second Street, resulting in shots fired.

The fight reportedly involved four men in a dark Altima sedan.

EKU officials tell WDRB the campus alert was issued as a precaution, because downtown Richmond is in close proximity to campus.

Around 2:45 a.m., officials issued the all-clear.

Officials say there is no active threat to the campus community, and advised students to resume normal activities.

Richmond and EKU Police are actively investigating the reported gunfire.
