UPS testing drones for deliveries to remote locations

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- UPS is testing drones for package delivery.

The shipping giant wants to use the technology to make commercial deliveries to remote or difficult to access locations. UPS successfully tested a drone yesterday in Massachusetts.

It flew a programmed three mile route over the Atlantic Ocean to deliver an inhaler.

But actual use of drones for commercial use could be a long way off.

Currently, federal aviation regulations don't allow commercial drones to fly over people and they must remain in the line of sight of their operators.
