JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- In southern Indiana, students asked questions to candidates running for the 9th District seat in Congress.

Republican Trey Hollingsworth and Democrat Shelli Yoder are both in the race to replace Todd Young.

They each answered questions from a student moderator in separate 30-minute sessions during a town tall-style forum Friday night.

Issues covered included everything from gun rights to the environment.

"It's good to have these events in school to get students involved in politics. Voter turnout has been decreasing lately especially among millennials," said Suyash Uppal, who is on the school's debate team.

The Jeffersonville High debate team conducted two primary debates as well in the spring.
