LACETT | Boom powers UK to third straight win over South Carolina

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Boom Williams made Stephen Johnson’s job as leader of the UK offense a lot easier Saturday.

With Johnson still easing into the role as starting quarterback of the team, Williams powered the UK attack with 143 yards and one score in UK’s 17-10 victory over South Carolina at Commonwealth Stadium. The Wildcats (2-2, 1-1 SEC), who beat USC (2-2, 1-2 SEC) for third straight time, now have their first three game win streak in series history.

Johnson, filling in for an injured Drew Barker, went 11-19 for 135 yards. He threw one interception and did not have a touchdown. He figures to start the next couple games as Barker continues to deal with back issues.

After starting the season 0-2, UK now has a two game win streak. The Wildcats return to action next Saturday at number 1 Alabama.
