Louisville NAACP organizes 'Get Out the Vote' drive Monday

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There are 42 days until Election Day and just two weeks left to get registered to vote.

Volunteers with the NAACP are bringing the registration efforts to the streets.

A "Get Out the Vote" drive was set up in front of Big Mama's Restaurant on West Broadway on Monday.

Volunteers had potential voters fill out a voter registration card, and then those cards are turned over to the Board of Elections.

"The importance of this election dictates that everyone should be registered to vote," Raoul Cunningham with the Louisville NAACP. "We will elect the president, vice president, U.S. Senator, and in some districts, city council members."

The deadline to be registered to vote for the Nov. 8 Election is Oct. 11 in both Kentucky and Indiana.
