LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police have arrested a convicted felon authorities say was in possession of several firearms.

Ray W. Powers, 48, of Murray, was arrested Sunday. According to a release from police, Powers is charged with 18 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and eight counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

During an investigation, authorities discovered that Powers was in possession of 18 long guns and eight handguns. Officials say he also had "body armor, other explosives paraphernalia and a substantial amount of ammunition."

Powers was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Jail.
