Jeffersonville Police searching for bank robbery suspect

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersonville Police are searching for a bank robbery suspect.

According to a news release, the New Washington State Bank, located at 1467 Youngstown Shopping Center, was robbed Monday at around 10:20 a.m.

Police say an unidentified man entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded money, while armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

Authorities say the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money before officers arrived.

Investigators say witnesses described the man as an African-American male and say he is between 5'-5" and 5'-6", weighing about 160 to 165 pounds.

Police say the suspect was wearing a clear poncho with a white shirt and gray sweatpants. The man also had on sunglasses and a ball cap with the letter "D" on the front.
