LMPD chief and officers take weekly peace walk to Beecher Terrace

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A week after riots in Charlotte, LMPD Chief Steve Conrad says building trust in local neighborhoods is more important than ever.

The chief and officers spent time Tuesday night in the Beecher Terrace area.

Chief Conrad is also preparing to defend his restructuring plans Wednesday in front of Metro Council.

"I'll be there to offer the reason, that quite frankly have already offered, about what we're going to do and how that can affect the department and how I believe it will make for a safer community," he said.

Last week, 15 council members sent a letter to Mayor Greg Fischer opposing the restructuring plan.
