Metro Council to discuss LMPD reorganization plan

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metro Council members will meet today to talk about LMPD's reorganization plan.

Last week, 15 Metro council members sent a letter to the mayor opposing the plan. LMPD Chief Steve Conrad wants to create a full-time SWAT unit, expand the narcotics unit and get rid of FLEX Platoons.

FLEX Platoons focus on violent crime and drugs in each of LMPD's divisions.

The public safety committee meeting is at 3:30 this afternoon in Council Chambers on Jefferson Street.
