Louisville, Clemson mayors place friendly wager on Saturday's game

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --- Mayor Greg Fischer is confident that the Louisville Cardinals will win Saturday's game against Clemson.

But then again, so is Clemson's mayor.

The only "adult" way to solve this disagreement? A friendly wager, of course.

Mayor Fischer and Clemson Mayor J.C. Cook announced the bet Thursday morning.

If the No. 5 Tigers win, Mayor Fischer will send a bottle of bourbon to Mayor Cook.

However, if the No. 3 Cardinals win, Mayor Cook will send a wheel of Clemson blue cheese to Mayor Fischer.

"This is one cheesy bet," said Fischer. "But I look forward to winning."

"We welcome and look forward to all the Louisville fans coming to the City of Clemson and Clemson University," Cook said. "I attended the Clemson-Louisville game in Louisville last year, and was welcomed by your fan base. I believe that Tigers here will welcome all your fans with open arms and we look forward to a great contest."

Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. in Clemson.
