New Albany breaks ground on segment of Ohio River Greenway Project

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New Albany has broken ground on a piece of the Ohio River Greenway Project.

The one-mile segment will span from 8th Street to 18th Street. The project is expected to cost $5 million and will include a new road, bike paths, overlooks and new lighting.

"When this project is completed, we will look back and say, 'Oh my gosh, this was the transformational piece in what happens in southern Indiana,'" said Jerry Finn, executive director of the Horseshoe Foundation.

Work on the third segment of the project is scheduled to be complete in a year. The full seven-mile Ohio River Greenway will connect the riverfronts of New Albany, Jeffersonville and Clarksville.
