LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo's annual 'World's Largest Halloween Party' kicked off Saturday.

The family-friendly event includes costumed characters, rides and trick-or-treating.

Zoo officials ask that kids bring their own bags for the trick-or-treating.

The annual event draws 85,000 people every year.

And even the gloomy weather didn't keep people away for the kick-off.

"I think people come prepared for this event. They want a certain night, they come, they bring their umbrellas and they're ready for anything," Maureen Horrigan said. "There are storybook characters, and themes, a lot of photo ops, candy, fun things to buy, lots of fun gifts too."

If you missed the big kick-off, don't worry, the event runs every weekend in October.
