LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – For a few moments in the early going, there was hope that maybe this could be the night Kentucky shocked the world.
Then reality, or rather the Alabama defense came crashing down on the Wildcats.
The top ranked Crimson Tide overwhelmed the UK offense holding them to just 161 yards in a 34-6 victory in Tuscaloosa.
Kentucky actually led 3-0 nothing before giving up 34 straight points to the defending national champions.
UK QB Stephen Johnson fumbled the ball twice for UK in the first half including one that was returned for a 55 yard touchdown. Johnson could not get anything going on the ground, finishing the game with 7 carries for minus 36 yards.
Kentucky(2-3) returns to action next Saturday at home against Vanderbilt.
