LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Heading into its playoff game Sunday, Louisville City knew it no longer had any margin for error.
One wrong move and it would all end in the first round of the postseason.
Fortunately, the boys in purple made all the right moves in extra time at Slugger Field as they would beat Richmond 2-0 to advance to the second round of the postseason.
A loss would have been extremely disappointing for Louisville, the eastern conference number 2 seed. Lou City outshout Richmond 20-4 in regulation but did not have anything to show for it.
What they did have however was a little more energy left than their opponent. Moments after extra time began, Aodhan Quinn set up George Davis IV for the game’s first goal. Moments later, Lou City scored another as Chandler Hoffman was able to get ahead of the defense to score the game’s second goal.
Louisville City will host Charleston in the second round Saturday. The Battery upset Cincinnati earlier in the day.
