BOZICH | Top 10 match-ups feature Manual vs. St. X; CAL vs. DeSales

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A pair of Top 10 match-ups highlight the local high school football action, although the games do not feature Trinity or Male, the two powers that have topped the WDRB High School Top 10 all season.

The headline game has third-ranked Manual visiting St. Xavier, which is ranked fourth by the seven voters in the WDRB poll.

The Crimson have allowed only 12 points in their last five games, while the Tigers are in the middle of a demanding stretch that has Will Wolford’s team matched against Trinity, Manual and Male.

The other top game features No. 6 Christian Academy at DeSales, which is ranked fifth. The Centurions have rolled to five consecutive wins after a season-opening loss to Simon Kenton. DeSales’ only loss in six games was to Ballard in Week Three.

Trinity earned all seven first-place votes again in the WDRB poll. The Rocks are also ranked 21st in MaxPreps.com national computer formula and No 7 in the South.

1. Trinity (7-0, 7 first-place votes, 70 points) — The Shamrocks are three games from regular-season perfection — Eastern, Seneca, Ballard.

2. Male (6-1, 63 points) — The Bulldogs are rolling again and have an extra week to prepare for St. Xavier.

3. Manual (6-0, 53 points) — The Crimson have not allowed more than six points in their last five games.

4. St. Xavier (4-2, 47 points) — The Tigers have to bounce back from the Trinity loss quickly because they face Manual and Male the next two weekends.

5. DeSales (5-1, 40 points) — After an impressive victory against North Hardin, the Colts face a major challenge from visiting Christian Academy.

6. Christian Academy (5-1, 39 points) — The Centurions have have averaged 39.6 points during their five game winning streak.

7. Ballard (5-2, 25 points) — The Bruins have the weekend off before playing Jeffersontown.

8. Bardstown (6-0, 15 points) — After an impressive victory against Waggener, the Tigers get Moore and Central the next two weekends.

9. Pleasure Ridge Park (4-3, 9 points) — After losing three straight to Trinity, St. Xavier and Male, the Panthers will try to rally against Butler.

10. South Oldham (6-0, 8 points) — The Dragons face road games with Bullitt East and Bullitt Central after blitzing Nelson County.
