Jeffersonville hiring two new police officers

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- The Jeffersonville Police Department is hiring two new officers.

The department received a $250,000 federal grant to fund the positions. The money comes from the Office of Community Oriented Police Services.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore says it's a great time for the city to hire new officers.

"We're bringing in a lot of new people into our community," Moore said. "With that said, a stronger police presence is always something every community wants, so we're making an investment also in the public safety aspect."

More than 4,000 new residents have moved into the city over the last four years.
