Metro Corrections officers to get pay raise after approving new contract

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metro Corrections officers have approved a new contract that includes a raise.

The vote passed Thursday night. There's no word on how much pay would go up.

Right now, starting pay for officers is a little more than $15 an hour.

The union has argued that's not enough incentive for the dangerous working conditions.

The contract still has to be ratified by metro council, but officials say it's expected to go through.

The raise should go into effect in the next few weeks.
