LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a suspect charged with murder in connection with a man's death in Crawford County, Indiana.

Steven Broughton, 24, was arrested Saturday, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Department.

Police and an ambulance responded to the 100 block of Church Street in Milltown, after a 911 call was received Saturday night by the Crawford County Dispatch Center.

Authorities say the caller, later identified as Broughton, stated that a victim, 41-year-old Larry McDonnell Jr., had been hit in the head with a baseball bat.

Officers with the Crawford County Sheriff's Department arrived and found Broughton located in the front bedroom of a residence. Authorities say Broughton was arrested without incident.

McDonnell was found in an adjacent room dead from blunt force trauma to the head, according to police.

Investigators say domestic violence and verbal abuse appear to have been contributing factors in the incident. Police say there is no record of officers having been sent to the home in the past.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on McDonnell's body, according to police.
