LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Jeffersontown man drove under the influence of alcohol and crashed into several vehicles.

William Branch, 30, was arrested Sunday. According to the arrest report, Branch was driving a vehicle when he got into an accident on Saturday night.

Officials say officers had contact with Branch about two hours before the collision and that he was "highly intoxicated."

Police say Branch later drove drunk and hit three other vehicles. According to investigators, three people in two of the vehicles were taken to the hospital.

Authorities say Branch "smelled strongly of alcohol, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet." Officials say Branch was not able to complete field sobriety tests "due to his level of intoxication and possible injuries."

The police report states that Branch blew a .499 on a portable breathalyzer test.

Police also obtained search warrants for Branch's blood and toxicology reports from the hospital. Authorities say toxicology results of Branch's blood alcohol content showed a level of .484.

Branch is charged with DUI and three counts of wanton endangerment.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and he appeared in court on Monday.
