LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville native and alternative R&B singer Bryson Tiller is earning more mainstream recognition.

Tiller is nominated for three 2016 American Music Awards, according to Billboard Magazine.

The singer is nominated in the categories of Favorite Male Artist -- Soul/R&B, Favorite Album -- Soul/R&B for his LP "TRAPSOUL," and Favorite Song -- Soul/R&B for his single "Don't."

Tiller was previously named Best New Artist at this year's BET Awards. He was also nominated in three categories at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Drake leads the field this year with 13 nominations. Other nominees include Beyonce, Adele, Justin Bieber and Carrie Underwood.

This year's American Music Awards will take place on Sunday, Nov. 20.
