Louisville receives accreditation from AARP as an Age-Friendly Community

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville is dubbed an Age-Friendly Community.

It's an accreditation bestowed by the AARP.

Age-Friendly Communities have safe, walkable streets, better housing and transportation options, and opportunities for seniors to participate in community and civic activities.

Mayor Greg Fischer says the label is a sign of Louisville's commitment to making the city "multi-generational."

Louisville is the 120th city to join the national network, and the 4th in Kentucky.
