Indiana State Police raid voter registration group over allegations of voter fraud

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police have raided a voter registration group over potential voter fraud.

The investigation now spans 56 counties, including Floyd, Clark and Jefferson counties in Indiana.

Officers say they discovered fake names and addresses on applications submitted by the Indiana Voter Registration Project. The group's president says the raid is part of the state's effort to rig the election by suppressing the right to vote for thousands of African Americans.

"We do not ask the question of race or ethnicity on our voter registration applications and we are not discriminating against voters," said Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson.

Indiana's attorney general recommends not using a third party to register to vote.
