Judge sets $500K bond for suspect in Blevins Gap Road murder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 20-year-old murder suspect has pleaded not guilty to gunning down another man outside a south Louisville convenience store earlier this week.
During Brandon Kraatz's arraignment Friday morning, Judge David Holton called it a sad situation and set a high bond for Kraatz.
"This is a sad situation," Holton said. "One family has lost a member of the family. And now the Kraatz family's son is behind bars with a half-million dollar bond, facing murder charges. I don't know where the nonsense ends."
Homicide detectives arrested Kraatz on Thursday. Investigators say he has confessed to shooting 58-year-old, David House in the parking lot of the Deal Master Food Mart on Blevins Gap Road on Oct. 10. House died at the hospital.
Police say they have both video and audio surveillance of the shooting. Kraatz's family members listened this morning as Judge Holton told their son he's "a danger to the community."
Kraatz is due back in court on Oct. 24.
