Entertainment or informative? Final presidential debate to air at select Regal Cinemas

Posted: Updated:

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) – The final presidential debate will broadcast live at select Regal Cinemas across the country on Wednesday, including the one in New Albany, but will it be entertainment or informative?

Voters say it's been an election season like no other.

“Interesting to say the least,” Eric Ray said.

“I think it's sad,” Dameon Clarke said.

Americans say it's been filled with bickering and child’s play.

“I think it's been taken to a level of theater that is ridiculous,” Clarke said.

And now it could actually be coming to a theater near you.

“It's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country,” Hillary Clinton said at the last debate.

“Yeah, because you'd be in jail,” Donald Trump responded.

206 Regal Cinemas across the country will be airing the final presidential debate for free on Wednesday. So will watching Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump face off on the big screen have an impact? University of Louisville Political Science Professor, Dr. Dewey Clayton, said it's a possibility.

“I think it's partly entertainment, but I think it may have some substantive value to it as well,” Dr. Clayton said.

And for people who don't particularly like either candidate it could push them in a certain direction.

“This could actually motivate people to get out and vote so I think it clearly has an impact and I think people will be watching just to see if something new comes up,” Dr. Clayton said.

“Unfortunately we're stuck with the two and you got to pick the lesser of two evils that you feel is right for you and your family,” Ray said.

“Maybe we'll get some interesting things coming out of it. Maybe they'll take the popcorn and start throwing it at the screen. Ya know, who knows what's going to happen,” Dr. Clayton said.

But at the very least, the show's not over until November 8th.
