U of L offers first look at plans for new $80 million academic building
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A piece of U of L history just came down, and now we're getting a look at the state-of-the art project going up in its place.
Construction is expected to start soon on an $80 million dollar academic building. It's being built on the site that once housed Crawford Gym, U of L's longtime basketball practice facility.
The new building will house 17 classrooms, science labs, study areas and food service options. The goal is to improve learning.
"It's not just a little corner to do your homework with a table to plug in your computer. It's really a building that's a community of scholars, which includes students and faculty," said Acting U of L President Neville Pinto.
The Kentucky Legislature approved funding for the building to address a significant lack of classroom space at U of L.
