LANE | ST. Xavier Ends Manual's Near-Perfect Season in Region Quarterfinals

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Manual boys soccer made it through the regular season without a loss, but an early postseason defeat ended their season Monday night at Manual Stadium.  St. Xavier avenged a 1-0 defeat to the Crimsons in mid-September making three late first-half goals stand up in a 3-0 triumph to advance to the 7th Region semi-finals.

The 5th-ranked Tigers (14-4-5) bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Collegiate in the 26th District Final last Thursday.

After a Tiger throw-in was headed outside the box, Andrew Klem got a clean look and blasted it into the right side of the goal for a 1-0 lead with 13:40 to play in the 1st half.  Just over eleven minutes later, Sam Graber took a feed from Trent Ennenbach near the end line, cut back with his right foot to evade a defender and squeezed a shot inside the near post with his left to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.  Klem got his second of the night, closing the scoring with a header off a corner from Ennenbach at the :58 mark of the first half.

Manual finishes the season at 14-1-2
