UPDATE | Victim identified in fatal shooting in Old Louisville; Police still looking for suspects

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are searching for suspects after a man was fatally shot in Old Louisville early Tuesday.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the PNC Bank in the 400 block of E. Oak Street. When officers got to the scene, they found the victim, believed to be in his 40s, who had been shot. The victim was taken to University Hospital, but died.

He has been identified as 46-year-old Kennith Belt of Fern Heather Drive in Louisville.

The coroner's office has not been able to locate Belt's relatives. Anyone with any information on his next of kin should contact the Jefferson County Coroner's Office at 502-377-5523.

Samuel Allen lives nearby. He says the neighborhood has become a dangerous area.

"This area right here, this year alone, there's been at least three or four people got killed -- shot -- within two blocks of where we're standing," Allen said.

Images captured on bank surveillance video could point investigators in the right direction, but police are hoping someone from the community will come forward with information.

"What we want to do is employ our community that when these things happen, to come forward with the information so we can find the person or persons responsible for this," said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD (574-5673). All calls are anonymous.
