Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The only team wedged between the Trinity High School football team and an undefeated regular-season is Ballard. The teams play Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity.

The Bruins beat Jeffersontown, 71-0, last week. Trinity beat Jeffersontown, 70-0, earlier this season.

Of course, the teams have three other common opponents:

Trinity beat Male by three. The Bulldogs beat Ballard by 18.

Trinity beat Eastern by 56. Ballard beat Eastern by 31.

Trinity beat Seneca by 58. Ballard beat Seneca by 44.

The Shamrocks remain the unanimous top pick in the WDRB High School Football Top 10, and why not? Coach Bob Beatty’s team has won its last four games by an average score of 55-3.

There were several changes in the poll this week. St. Xavier moved to second, ahead of Male, after the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs last week. Bardstown left the Top 10 after losing to Central. Brownstown (Ind.) Central returned after a three-week absence.

Here is this week’s Top 10:

1. Trinity (9-0, seven first-place votes, 70 points) — The Shamrocks face Ballard at home before earning an off week prior to the start of the playoffs.

2. St. Xavier (6-2, 62 points) — Back-to-back wins over Manual and Male have given the Tigers momentum for their final two games against Butler and Cincinnati St. Xavier.

3. Male (6-2, 54 points) — The Bulldogs need to win their home game with Manual Friday to hold the No. 3 spot.

4. Manual (7-1, 51 points) — The Crimson bounced back from their loss to St. X by defeating PRP.

5. Christian Academy (7-1, 43 points) — The Centurions should roll to their eighth straight victory against Washington County, which lost to DeSales, 55-0, last week.

6. Ballard (6-2, 30 points) — At Trinity Friday night. Enough said.

7. South Oldham (8-0, 23 points) — The Dragons must handle North Bullitt and Shelby County to finish a perfect regular season.

8. DeSales (6-2, 15 points) — The Colts should finish the regular season 8-2 by  defeating Shawnee and Southern.

9. Pleasure Ridge Park (5-4, 14 points) — The Panthers have a week to regroup before finishing their season with Central Oct. 28.

10. Brownstown (Ind.) Central (8-1, 11 points) — The Braves have bounced back from a 2-point loss to Seymour by averaging 56 points while winning their last three games.
