Ky. Sec. of State calls Trump's allegations of election rigging 'inappropriate and unfounded'

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Inappropriate and unfounded is what Kentucky's Secretary of State says about claims by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump that the election is rigged.

Alison Lundergan Grimes made the comments before holding a meeting of her Election Integrity Task Force.

The group is made up of federal, state and local authorities who investigate charges of voter fraud.

Grimes is assuring a fair process, even though she is a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton. "I take my hat off of partisanship as Secretary of State. And no matter who is on the ballot, the effort and goal of all the individuals that I mentioned, from our state Board of Elections, to our county clerks, to Secretaries of State nationally, our goal is to make sure that the will of the people is recognized," Grimes said.

As WDRB reported Monday, more than 15,000 election workers in 120 counties are involved in overseeing the election.
