LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a man caught burglarizing a JCPS school had a unique excuse for why he was on the premises in the middle of the night.
Police say he claimed to be the superintendent.
According to an arrest report, it happened at J.B. Atkinson Elementary School at the corner of N. 28th Street and Duncan Street, just after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say they were dispatched to the school after 46-year-old Franklin Bain was found inside. According to the arrest report, the school was closed and Bain was not an employee. When school officials told him to leave, he allegedly told them that he was the school superintendent.
When police arrived, Bain was still there -- and a woman who worked at the school said she was afraid to go back inside because she didn't know how he got in.
Police arrested Bain and charged him with third degree burglary.
He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
