LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting in the Parkland neighborhood Wednesday morning.

It happened at approximately 10:15 a.m. Wednesday near the corner of S. 32nd Street and Greenwood Avenue.

The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Donald Hester. Hester was transported to the emergency room at University Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

"From the first one to the one we had today, they're all tragic," LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said of the city's 94th homicide.

Detectives say the victim was found in an alley between Greenwood and Grand Avenues.

"I live right here. My mother lives right there so it's an uneasy feeling," said one neighbor who only wanted to be identified as Jordan. "It's just really sad, these senseless killings that don't make any sense."

The 16-year-old was taken into custody around 1 p.m. Wednesday near 21st and Duncan Streets. He is charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.

LMPD says no other arrests are anticipated.
