LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A California murder victim's family received a letter from him 14 years after he was killed.

Family members say Aaron Vickers wrote a letter to his future self for a high school assignment in 2000. The teacher promised to mail the letters back to students after 10 years.

When the teacher learned that Vickers was shot and killed in 2002, he found Vickers' family on Facebook so he could send the letter to them. It turned out to be a precious gift.

"When I first opened the letter and saw his handwriting, tears filled my eyes," said Vickers' sister, Tyra Vickers-Kearney, who read the letter aloud to her mother.

"I've never felt his presence like that in the past 14 years but I felt like he was sitting right next to the side of me as she was reading this letter," said Vickers' mom, Deanetta Vickers.

Vickers' family says the four-page letter mentioned wanting a daughter in the future. He also predicted a black president or a woman president in 10 years.
