Former Bardstown substitute teacher accused of having sex with students

Posted: Updated:

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Bardstown substitute teacher is charged with rape after being accused of having sex with several students.

Bardstown police say Lindsey Call is a former substitute teacher at Bardstown High School. She's now facing rape charges, and her attorney says she innocent.

Call is facing four counts of third degree rape after being indicted by a grand jury. Her attorney tells us she is cooperating with the investigation.

The charges stem from accusations made in August that she had sexual contact with several students. Bardstown Police Chief, McKenzie Mattingly says his department didn't find out about the allegations in September.

Child Protective Services started looking into the case, a month before police were notified.

Chief Mattingly says investigators now have enough evidence to formally charge Call.

"I can tell you that she's not working for the Bardstown City school system," Mattingly said. And based on our investigation, she was not an employee at the time that these alleged offenses occurred.

School officials in Bardstown did not immediately return our calls requesting comment.

Call is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 3 in Nelson County.
