Louisville Furniture Society to display newest creations on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They make tables for local restaurants -- and you may see some of their work at area hotels.

Members of the Louisville Furniture Society will display their newest creations at the 2016 Functional Design show on Saturday.

It's a chance to buy locally made pieces or just appreciate the designs. Nine of the top woodworkers in the area are hoping to promote the up-and-coming furniture scene in the city.

"You'd be surprised," said Craig Bayens of C. Bayens Furniture + Functional Design. "It's a little bigger than you'd think. A lot of people just don't know about it unless you're in that kind of realm. You wouldn't necessarily go to a local maker to make your pieces.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at the Tim Faulkner Gallery on Portland Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
