LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Sparring and breaking boards.

Competitors from all over the world came together in Louisville Saturday to show off their talents in martial arts.

Some competitors as young as three years old take part in Hwang's Martial Arts World Taekwondo Championship.

They come from Cuba, Panama, and all over the United States.

This was the 30th year for the event, which is now held at Broadbent Arena.

"We first started in a very small middle school then we went to a college gym and now we're at Broadbend Arena with more than 2,000 people in attendance today," Mimi Hwang said.

"Taekwondo is sort of rare nowadays. You don't see many people doing. You see people saying oh I have a soccer game this Saturday. I wanted to compete and use my talents to challenge myself and other people," said competitor Rebecca Reynolds.

Regardless of where they place, kids earn three-foot trophies.
