LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) –The Louisville Cardinals are back in the top 5.

Thanks to a convincing win over NC State Saturday and key loses from teams ahead of them, the Cards jumped two spots and now ranked fifth in both the Coaches and AP Poll, released Sunday.

The Cardinals benefited from both former number two Ohio State’s shocking loss to Penn State Saturday and the loss of former number 6 Texas A&M to top ranked Alabama.

Not all the breaks went Louisville’s way this weekend. Former number 11 Houston is out of the AP poll altogether after a loss to SMU. The Cards play at Houston on Thursday November 17th.  A victory there for Louisville would be nice but with the Cougars out of the top 25, it would no longer carry as much weight.

Louisville is back in action Saturday at Virginia.
