SW YMCA daycare under investigation

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Southwest YMCA is under investigation after a child was transported to the hospital from the Southwest YMCA daycare on Sept. 22.

The Division of Regulated Child Care in the Office of Inspector General opened the investigation. The agency will decide whether to take action against the daycare's license.

Officials have not released specifics on the child's condition or what happened.

Steve Tarver, the President and CEO of the Greater Louisville YMCA issued this statement:

"Our first concern, as always, is the safety of the children we serve. We are cooperating with all appropriate agency investigations. That is the only information that we have at this time and we intend to respect the privacy of the family going forward."

The state says the investigation only involves the daycare:

"Child care provided for the workout facility where parents are on the premises is exempt from licensure and thus would not fall under the OIG’s purview," says Beth Fisher with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
