Treasurer of church in Augusta, Ky. accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say they've arrested a church treasurer for stealing tens of thousands of dollars from her church.

According to a news release, 59-year-old Dorothy Colleen Barth was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Barth, a resident of Butler, Kentucky, was the treasurer for Trinity United Methodist Church, which is based in Augusta, Kentucky. According to police, between Sept. 2015 and June 2016, Barth stole more than $50,000 from the church.

She has been charged with theft by unlawful taking, and is currently being held in the Marion County Detention Center.
